Since several days I have a little advertising on this site for Ulf 4.1
The whole thing started around a year ago, short before I turned 40. Some might call it midlife crisis or some other funny reality in life, but somehow I got “funny feeling” turning 40.
40 were the amount of years of the children of Israel wandering in the desert.
Moses fled pharao at the age of 40 and watched sheep for another 40 years.
40 is in general one generation and I was wondering what I actually did.
Was my life as it could be? Were there shortcomings or successes?
Could my family count on me, or my employees, or customers and how about my business partners?
Somehow 40 felt like a big milestone upgrade of a very important program. But what should I change?
First of all I found that people look at you different when you are 40. Somehow the age seems to “make you a bit wiser”.
But there are also true realities, like “I survived”.
And living for over a decade in the Middle East it couldn’t be more meaningful.
Over 40 years I survived accidents, sicknesses, bombings and other physical harm, which could have actually cost me my life more than once. Many friends and people I knew died long before they reached even 40 through the same things I survived.
One year ago 4.0 was an event at my house in Tzur Hadassah with around 100 friends, one of the best DJ’s in town, BBQ and lots of liquids , and it now seems like a fairwell party.
Soon after my birthday party I left Isarel on a business trip and since then I basically live out of the suitcase and wonder where I am when I wake up.
So now Ulf version 4.1 is coming up on Sunday and a lot of things have changed since the last upgrade and a lot of things are about to happen. As it seems, it took me a year to figure out what 40 means for me.
Sounds perhaps a bit cheesy, but… it is what it is.
As 4.1 is coming up on Sunday the 25th, I will wait to announce all the great upgrades and update from the 4.0 version for some more days.
One thing is for sure…
Due to some personal circumstances my family and I decided to stay for a season in Germany and for the first time since 1996 we registered our first domicil in the Bundesrepublik Deutschland in the lovely town of Würzburg on the 19th of May 2008 - truely a historic moment. Germany will never be the same again :-)
